Three Detained Over Studio Vandalism Stemming From Land Dispute In Capital
Police say the incident stemmed from a land dispute involving a real estate company rather than a targeted attack on the content creator
Law enforcement authorities in Dhaka have detained three individuals in connection with an attack and subsequent vandalism at the studio of popular content creator Salman Muqtadir. The detentions were carried out during a series of overnight and morning raids following the incident, which left significant damage to property and equipment at the premises located in the capital.
The incident unfolded on Saturday night at the New Guinea Properties complex near the ECB intersection in Dhaka, prompting Muqtadir to publish a video on his verified Facebook page detailing the destruction. Footage from the scene showed extensive damage to the studio's interior, with broken tables, shattered chairs, a damaged television, and various professional equipment strewn across the rooms, while distraught staff members were seen weeping over the wreckage.
Despite the heavy damage, police officials have clarified that the attack was not specifically targeted at the content creator or his studio, nor was it linked to any extortion attempt. Nazmul Alam, Assistant Commissioner of the Cantonment Zone of the Dhaka Metropolitan Police, stated that the violence stemmed from an ongoing land dispute between New Guinea Properties Limited and an adjacent land owner. According to investigators, the establishment was caught in the middle of this property conflict.
Authorities confirmed that while three suspects have been taken into custody for questioning and legal proceedings, no formal case has been filed yet in connection with the incident. Police continue to investigate the circumstances surrounding the altercation to determine further accountability for the property destruction.
