Dhaka North City Corporation Administrator Md. Shafiqul Islam Khan has strongly condemned the recent attack, vandalism, and looting at the Radda MCH-FP Centre in the capital's Mirpur-1 area, demanding the immediate identification and strict legal prosecution of those involved.
In a statement issued via his verified Facebook page, the administrator asserted that assaults on healthcare facilities are entirely unacceptable under any circumstances. He called for a swift, impartial, and comprehensive investigation to bring not only the direct perpetrators to justice, but also the masterminds, instigators, and individuals operating behind the scenes.
Stating that the political or social identities of the culprits must not influence legal proceedings, the administrator emphasized that no form of political influence or power should exempt anyone from accountability before the law. He confirmed that he has drawn the attention of relevant higher authorities and is maintaining constant communication with senior police officials in the Mirpur division to ensure an uncompromised investigation and strict action against every offender.
The violent incident unfolded late Thursday night when a masked mob of over two hundred individuals, armed with local weapons, stormed the healthcare facility around midnight. According to institutional complaints, the assailants held two security guards hostage before launching a rampage of destruction and theft. Utilizing heavy machinery, the attackers demolished a brick-built structure and three semi-permanent buildings, completely flattening the facility while looting valuable medical equipment, pharmaceuticals, vaccines, cash, and other assets.
FP Centre lodged a formal case with Shah Ali Police Station, alleging that a vested faction had long attempted to usurp the land. For years, the institution has served as a vital healthcare pillar for Mirpur residents, providing essential services including pediatric immunization, child healthcare, reproductive health, and family planning.
