United Medical College Hospital Launches Specialized ICU Units in Dhaka
United Medical College Hospital has officially launched state-of-the-art specialized intensive care units dedicated to gastro-liver, surgical, and transplant treatments. The advanced medical facilities were inaugurated on Wednesday at the hospital's campus situated on Madani Avenue in Dhaka, marking a significant expansion of advanced healthcare infrastructure in the country.
The newly introduced facility features twenty-five individual cabins equipped with twenty-five specialized beds. To ensure optimal patient recovery environments, the infrastructure integrates continuous air purification systems alongside abundant natural daylight access.
Addressing specific clinical needs, the hospital has established a fourteen-bed modern gastro-liver and surgical ICU tailored for patients suffering from complex gastro-intestinal ailments and undergoing major surgical interventions. Additionally, a dedicated six-bed transplant ICU has been established specifically to manage liver transplant procedures and provide post-operative critical care.
The inauguration ceremony was attended by prominent corporate and medical figures, including United Group Chief Adviser Hasan Mahmud Raza, Adviser Akhtar Mahmud, United Healthcare Managing Director Nizamuddin Hasan, United Medical College Hospital Chairman AQM Mohsen, and The Financial Express Editor Shamsul Huq, alongside other senior officials of United Group.
Highlighting the strategic objective behind the expansion, AQM Mohsen stated that the introduction of these advanced intensive care units aims to elevate complex disease management in Bangladesh to international standards. He emphasized that the overarching vision is to instill public confidence so that patients can receive world-class medical treatment domestically rather than seeking care abroad.
