Her family is suffering from insecurity after filing a case against the people involved in the gang-rape of a class 10 student in Gafargaon upazila of Mymensingh. The members of the family told this information in a press conference at the Mymensingh Press Club auditorium around 11:30 am on Saturday and said that the accused were quickly arrested. Along with that, they demanded their security.

According to police and family sources, the student was gang-raped on December 12 last year. Later, his mother filed a case in the Mymensingh Women and Child Abuse Prevention Tribunal as the plaintiff. According to the order of the court on March 7 of this year six persons were accused and registered as a case.

On the day of registering the case, the main accused in the case. Police arrested Ashiq (30) and sent him to jail through the court. A medical examination and DNA samples of the abused girl were taken.

The student was accompanied by her parents and elder sister in the press conference. The elder sister of the student said that Mosharraf Hossain, the son of the former acting president of Union BNP, Mohammad Ichmat, used to harass her sister on the way to and from school. The girl told her mother. The mother forbade Musharraf and his associates to molest her daughter. They got angry and threatened to take a look. At one point the sister was stopped from going to school.

The student’s sister also said, “On hearing about an accident, my parents went to my grandmother’s house with my younger brother on December 12. Later the accused went to our house and raped my sister at gunpoint. My parents returned home after learning about the incident and sought justice from the local people. Accused started obstructing our legal process. Later, I came to the court with difficulty and filed a case.

In the press conference, the family claimed that one was caught after a case was registered with the police station. However, the rest of the accused are not being caught. Accused often come home and threaten to withdraw the case; If not, the family members will be killed. Police are not arresting one of the accused as he is the son of a BNP leader. This time the student was giving the SSC exam, but her exam was stopped in this incident. Even the 6th standard brother is not able to go to school due to fear.

When asked about the complaint of the family, the officer in charge of Pagla police station said. Aminul Islam told Prothom Alo, “I myself went on a raid to catch the rest of the accused, but did not find them.” Accused are scared — a GD was taken at the police station four-five days ago. The local beat officer is keeping a constant watch on the family. Security will be provided to the family.
