Man arrested for attempted theft of government medicine from Dhaka hospital

Security personnel at the Government Employees Hospital in Dhaka apprehended a suspect early Friday morning while he was attempting to smuggle out approximately 300,000 taka worth of state-owned medication.
According to a press release issued by the Bangladesh Ansar and Village Defense Party (VDP) headquarters, the incident occurred around 2:00 a.m. Thursday. A member of the Ansar force, stationed at the hospital’s South Zone, first identified the suspect, identified as 21-year-old Nasim, acting suspiciously near the second-floor medicine store.
Upon receiving the alert, an Ansar patrol team confronted the individual and conducted a search of his belongings. The officers discovered roughly 500 boxes of hospital-grade medication concealed within a suitcase and three separate bags. Authorities also seized three smartphones and three identification cards found in the suspect’s possession during the operation.
Following the discovery, the suspect was detained and subsequently handed over to local police through hospital administration officials for further legal action.
