Liquid Nitrogen Tanker Explosion Causes Panic on Natore Highway

A truck carrying liquid nitrogen exploded on the Bonpara-Hatikumrul highway in the Baraigram upazila of Natore on Tuesday morning, triggering widespread panic but resulting in no casualties.
The incident occurred at approximately 6:00 a.m. near the Molla Hotel in the Bonpara area. Following the blast, a thick plume of white vapor engulfed the surrounding 300 to 400 meters, forcing residents and pedestrians in the vicinity to evacuate to safety.
Sub-Inspector Alamgir Hossain of the Bonpara Highway Police Station confirmed that the vehicle was en route from Benapole to Dhaka. According to authorities, the truck was transporting liquid nitrogen estimated to be worth approximately 7 million taka. The majority of the gas leaked into the atmosphere as a result of the explosion.
Molla Hotel owner Shahed Ali Molla reported that the truck had been stationary near his establishment when a sudden breach caused a loud explosion. The rapid discharge of the gas created a dense, fog-like atmosphere, prompting bystanders to notify the fire service and local law enforcement.
Fire service rescue teams and highway police arrived on the scene shortly thereafter to secure the area and mitigate risks. The damaged vehicle has since been recovered and moved to a secure location. This incident follows a separate accident on the same highway on July 25, when a truck carrying liquid nitrogen overturned near the Tarmuz Pump area.
