Father Learns of Daughters Death After Answering Fatal Bus Crash Call in Bangladesh

A father’s journey to secure a college dormitory seat for his daughter ended in tragedy on Thursday, marking a devastating conclusion to a morning that began with high expectations for her academic future. Arifur Rahman had departed his home in Rangunia, Chittagong, traveling toward the college campus to assist his daughter, Sumaiya, with the final arrangements for her accommodation.
Sumaiya had simultaneously begun her own journey from her grandparents’ home in Chakaria, Cox’s Bazar, intending to meet her father at the institution. As the morning progressed, Mr. Rahman attempted to contact his daughter by telephone to track her progress and coordinate their arrival.
The call was answered by a stranger, who delivered the harrowing news that the phone’s owner had died. Stunned by the revelation, Mr. Rahman eventually made his way to the Lohagara Upazila Health Complex. Standing on the hospital veranda, he broke down in tears, overwhelmed by the sudden and profound loss of his daughter.
