Police recover bodies of mother and son from Jessore home; husband detained for questioning

Police in the Bagharpara Upazila of Jashore recovered the bodies of a woman and her six-year-old son from their home on Saturday night. The victims have been identified as 32-year-old Zubaida Khatun and her son, Jisan.
The discovery was made at the residence of Zakir Hossain in Khalshi village. According to local reports, the young boy was found on a bed with his hands and feet bound by a cloth, while his mother was found with a scarf tied tightly around her neck.
Local veterinarian Akhtar Hossain, who arrived at the scene around 9:00 p.m. after receiving reports of the incident, confirmed the positioning of the bodies. At the time of the discovery, Zakir Hossain was reportedly at his business establishment in Bahrampur Bazar. He returned home after being notified and subsequently alerted the authorities.
Officers from the Bagharpara Police Station arrived at the residence at approximately 10:00 p.m. The bodies were recovered and transported to the police station by 11:00 p.m. On Sunday morning, the remains were sent to the morgue at Jashore 250-Bed General Hospital for post-mortem examinations.
Shah Jalal Alam, the officer-in-charge of Bagharpara Police Station, stated that marks were visible on the necks of both victims, though no other external injuries were immediately apparent. Police have taken Zakir Hossain into custody for questioning regarding the suspicious circumstances of the deaths. Officials stated that further details will be determined once the autopsy reports are finalized.
