Two dead after covered van crashes into vehicles in Dhaka Moghbazar area

Two people were killed and several others injured late Sunday when a covered van lost control and struck multiple vehicles near the Moghbazar Wireless area in the capital.

The accident occurred around 11:30 p.m. in front of the Moghbazar Grand Shopping Complex. According to Deputy Commissioner of the Ramna Division of Police Sheikh Zahidul Islam, the driver of the covered van lost control while descending from the Moghbazar flyover, subsequently ramming into two motorcycles and a CNG-run auto-rickshaw.

Emergency responders transported the victims to Dhaka Medical College Hospital, where doctors pronounced Zaman Ahammed, 42, and Riad Hossain, 22, dead upon arrival. Several other individuals sustained injuries in the collision, one of whom remains in critical condition.

Inspector Md. Faruk of the Dhaka Medical College Hospital police outpost confirmed that the bodies of both deceased men have been moved to the hospital morgue. Both victims were identified as residents of Madhurgati Fakirpara village in the Narail Sadar Upazila. Zaman was the son of Iliyas Fakir, while Riad was the son of Liakat Fakir.
