The death toll from a toxic gas leak at a shipbreaking yard in Sitakunda, Chittagong, has risen to eight. The incident occurred Friday morning at the Ferdous Steel facility, located in the Station Road area of Bhatiari Union, after a gas cylinder exploded on a scrap vessel.
The government has mandated the retirement of 49 police inspectors, according to a notification issued by the Police-1 branch of the Ministry of Home Affairs on Thursday. In a separate administrative move, seven additional police officers holding the rank of Assistant Superintendent of Police have also been sent into retirement.
A senior Iranian military official stated that Tehran may prolong its ongoing hostilities against the United States until the conclusion of President Donald Trump’s term. The current administration’s tenure is scheduled to end on January 20, 2029.
