Three Day Sharadiya Craft Fair Begins in Dhanmondi Showcasing Local Heritage
A three-day fashion exhibition and fair titled Story of Yarn: Sharadiya Festival Woven in Individuality has commenced at Midas Centre in the capital's Dhanmondi area, aiming to showcase local heritage ahead of the upcoming Sharadiya festival. Organized by Fashion Udyog and the Fashion Entrepreneurs Association of Bangladesh, with the collaboration of Noksha and the SME Foundation, the event was inaugurated on Friday morning. The exhibition runs daily from 10:00 AM to 9:00 PM and concludes on September 27.
Addressing the inaugural ceremony, Ministry of Industries Secretary and SME Foundation Chairman Abdun Naser Khan attended as the chief guest, underscoring ongoing initiatives to highlight the nation's history and culture. He noted that authorities are contemplating the establishment of a dedicated display center to promote domestic goods, adding that state dignitaries and foreign representatives have consistently praised these locally crafted products when presented as official gifts. The opening event also featured Bengal Foundation Director General Luva Nahid Chowdhury, dancer Munmun Ahmed, and choreographer Azra Mahmud as special guests.
Fashion Entrepreneurs Association of Bangladesh President Azharul Haque Azad emphasized that the exhibition extends beyond a conventional marketplace, describing it as an endeavor to weave together national heritage, creativity, and the aspirations of local entrepreneurs. The fair features participation from both established and emerging brands, alongside various domestic enterprises displaying a blend of tradition, innovation, and distinct cultural identity.
A total of 45 organizations are showcasing their new collections tailored for the festival, offering visitors a comprehensive array of apparel, jewelry, and creative lifestyle products under one roof. Participating brands include Shilpolok, Poshak by Tannas, Myth Arts and Crafts, Koinya, Kalindi, Signet, Sutli, Atkuturi Noy Dorja, Buno, Dayita, Tero Parbon, Porinita Fashion, Tanis Bangladesh, Rhiti, Mitar Golpo, Noksha Mintree, Gutipoka, Box of Ornaments, Munmun's, Sorola, Ayan Crafts, Pouranika, Bene Bou, Nipun Crafts, Trendz, Tan, Craft Panda, Dighol, Shishu Poribohon, Khut, Jothashilpo, Azura by Shanta Kabir, Rinky's Attire, Artgenix by Anika, Sajiboni, Kalpataru, Farhana Fashion, Konok The Jewellery Palace, Deshal, Rong Bangladesh, Anjan's, Kay Craft, Sadakalo, Kapor-E-Bangla, and Onyorokom.
