Urgent instructions in all educational institutions of the country

The Ministry of Education has directed to prepare a list of retired and physically able teachers to strengthen teaching activities in the classrooms of schools across the country. From this list, instructions have been given to the managing committee of the concerned institutions to appoint teachers as per requirement.

This information is known from a letter signed by Shirin Akter, Senior Assistant Secretary of Private Secondary-1 Branch of Ministry of Education’s Secondary and Higher Education Department on Sunday (April 12).

The letter has been sent to all District Commissioners, Upazila Nirbahi Officers (UNOs) and Director Generals of the Directorate of Secondary and Higher Education in the country. It mentioned that the shortage of teachers in private educational institutions and the delay in the appointment of teachers by the NTRCA are hampering the teaching activities in the classrooms.

It is further stated that for the purpose of proper completion of classroom teaching activities and quality and standard teaching, the following instructions have been issued regarding the formation of retired teachers pool with the approval of the concerned managing committee/governing body/ad hoc committee as per the advice of Upazila Nirbahi Officer.

District Commissioners (all districts) have been requested to take necessary measures to form a retired teacher pool of upazila-wise retired and physically able teachers.

The letter of the Ministry of Education further stated that, in consultation with UNO of the concerned Upazila, with the approval of the concerned Managing Committee/Governing Body/Ad Hoc Committee, the education program should be conducted by temporarily appointing teachers from the said pool as per the need.

The Director General, Directorate of Secondary and Higher Education, Dhaka is requested to issue necessary instructions regarding the execution of the honorarium expenditure in this regard from the essential sector of the institution’s own funds.
