Prime Minister Tareq Rahman orders swift urban management improvements following surprise inspection of Dhaka North City Corporation

Prime Minister Tareq Rahman conducted an unscheduled inspection of Dhaka North City Corporation’s urban management systems on Friday, driving through various neighborhoods to personally evaluate the capital’s cleanliness and infrastructure. During the afternoon excursion, the Prime Minister assessed essential municipal functions, including waste management, public greenery, tree planting initiatives, and water drainage systems.
According to sources within the Ministry of Local Government, Rural Development and Cooperatives, the Prime Minister summoned State Minister Mir Shah-e Alam and Dhaka North City Administrator Shafiqul Islam to his residence earlier in the day to coordinate the inspection. The official motorcade departed at 4 p.m., traversing a wide path that spanned from ECB Chattar and Mirpur DOHS to the commercial hubs of Uttara, Airport Road, Mohakhali, and Farmgate.
The inspection route continued through several high-density residential and transit corridors, including Manik Mia Avenue, Asadgate, and the various sectors of Mohammadpur, as well as the major junctions at Shyamli, Shewrapara, and Mirpur-10. Following the tour, the Prime Minister concluded the inspection at his Gulshan residence in the evening.
While observing the city’s current state, the Prime Minister expressed dissatisfaction with several aspects of the ongoing urban management and issued immediate directives to the accompanying officials to implement more effective solutions. Accompanying the Prime Minister during the oversight visit were Bangladesh Nationalist Party central executive committee special secretary Muhammad Belayet Hossain Mridha, along with the Prime Minister’s personal secretaries, Mehedul Islam and Abdur Rahman Sani.
