Md. Muhtad Achrar became the champion of the champion (best of the best) in the secondary category at National Mathematics Festival 2026. He had a smile and confidence on his face while accepting the ‘trophy’ as an award from the guests.

After accepting the award at Primary Teacher Training Institute (PTI) in the capital on Saturday morning, Muhtad Asrar told Prothom Alo, one must have love for mathematics. Mathematics should be studied beyond academics. Must be in regular practice. Only then it is possible to do well in mathematics.

Muhtad Achrar is a 10th class student of BGC Academic School and College, Chittagong. He came alone from Chittagong to accept the award. Muhtad says, receiving the award after such success is a real pleasure.

Dutch-Bangla Bank-Prothom-alo National Mathematics Festival 2026 had its prize distribution ceremony today. Prizes were handed over to 87 students who won the Mathematics Festival National Olympiad.

This time, Md. Nabih Hossain of St. Joseph Higher Secondary School of Dhaka became the “Champion of the Champions” in the primary category. Rishan An Nafi of Dhaka Residential Model College became the ‘Champion of the Champions’ in the junior category. Md. Muhtad Achrar became the “Champion of the Champions” in the secondary category. Tasin Khan of Anand Mohan College, Mymensingh became the ‘Champion of the Champions’ in the Higher Secondary category.

Pulatta Saha, a student of Parashmani Laboratory School, won the ‘Jebunnesa Hashem Award’ for being the best among girls in the primary category. Ismam Uddin got the award for ‘Jamilur Reza Chowdhury Aesthetic Solution’ in the junior category. Tasin Khan received the ‘Jamal Nazrul Islam Smriti’ award as the champion of the Olympiad in the secondary and higher secondary categories. He received the ‘Jamilur Reza Chowdhury Memorial Award’ as the champion of the Olympiad in the primary and junior categories. Nabih Hossain.

The organizing authority said that this time a total of 51 thousand 532 students from 19 thousand 79 educational institutions of 479 upazilas of the country had registered online. First Online Selection Olympiad is conducted for all the registered students. 17 thousand 160 students won from online selection olympiad. Regional math festivals are organized in 12 cities of the country with these winning students. About 1,200 students won from the regional stage and the National Mathematics Festival was held with them on March 7. After the exam students go back to their respective destinations. At the end of the book evaluation, 87 people won and the results were published online on March 14. Then today the winners were given trophies, certificates, crests, medals and t-shirts.

The prize distribution ceremony of the National Mathematics Festival started today after 10 am at PTI in the capital with the National Anthem. At this time, the guests spoke to the students.

Anisul Haque, Managing Editor of Prothom Alo mentioned that the children of Bangladesh who participated in Mathematics Olympiad are doing well all over the world. He said to the students, you will appreciate the beauty of mathematics. Will be a good mathematician. will lead the world. Dream big.

Thanking everyone involved in Math Olympiad, Anisul Haque said, you will do something, as if Bangladesh is not only about money; Advances in wealth, means, knowledge and status. Bengali-non-Bengali, Muslim-non-Muslim, men and women all together this country, this world. The country and the world should be made beautiful.

General Secretary of Bangladesh Mathematics Olympiad Committee Munir Hasan mentioned that this is the first time in 26 years that the prize distribution ceremony of the National Mathematics Festival was held separately. He said that more than 52,000 students participated in Maths Olympiad this year. 87 of these winners are here. You are pioneers. You must spread your own knowledge to others.

Addressing the parents, Munir Hasan said, it is better not to pressure the children too much. Due to technology they have many opportunities now. Let them explore the opportunities. But care should be taken that they do not become addicted to the device (devices like mobile phones).

Bangladesh Mathematics Olympiad Committee Vice President Prof. Elias Uddin Biswas said, when the Mathematics Olympiad started, the students were not available like that. Of those found, 222 participated. About 52 thousand students participated this time. Students are motivated and participating. Those who have participated in the past are doing well. Students have the opportunity to study in world famous educational institutions like Harvard, MIT.

Deputy Managing Director of Dutch-Bangla Bank. Sirajul Islam said, those of you who are receiving awards here today, you have not just won a competition, you have proved that you can accept challenges, persevere and make dreams come true.

Sirajul Islam said, since 2004, Dutch-Bangla Bank has been regularly sponsoring this math festival with the aim of encouraging students to study mathematics by removing their fear of mathematics. The boys have also been consistently successful in international Olympiads for several years.

Anik Sutradhar performed the song on the occasion. At the end of the song, the guests gave medals to the winners. The program ended at 12:30 pm with the distribution of prizes to the winners. The program was moderated by Zahid Hossain Khan, Academic Counselor of Maths Olympiad.
