After hearing the screams of the people, he came out of the house with his wife and two children. Ekram Mia (35). Then they fell in front of a herd of wild elephants. Immediately the elephants came running. He ran to a safe distance with the boy who was near the elephant in his lap. From there, he saw his wife Achma Bibi (25) and daughter Cheman Ara (3) being picked up by the elephant and trampled under its feet. Seeing the tragic death of his wife and daughter in front of his eyes, he could not do anything.
The incident took place at Syed Colony in Paschim Khuniapalong area of Khuniapalong Union of Ramu Upazila of Cox’s Bazar at around 5:30 am on Thursday. In this incident, Ekram Mia and her six-year-old son narrowly escaped.

Regarding eyewitnesses, Zainal Abedin, UP member of Khuniapalong Union Parishad, said that the herd of hungry elephants was aggressive. There was no chance for the mother and daughter to escape to teach in front of the elephant. The herd of elephants destroyed the houses of the people and ate the mangoes and jackfruits from the trees. The affected family has been living in forest department land for several years.
Belal Uddin, a farmer resident of Syed Colony, said that three herds of wild elephants suddenly entered the area in the early morning. These elephants broke the boundary walls of some houses in Syed Colony and started uprooting the surrounding trees. He came out of the house after hearing the noise of people. Go out and fall in front of the elephant. At this time, Ekram Mia managed to escape quickly with his son Rehan Uddin. And the mother and daughter died on the spot.

Cox’s Bazar (South) Dhwapalang Forest Range Officer of the Forest Department. Mosaddek Hossain said, a herd of elephants came down to the area in search of food. After the incident, the herd was driven into the forest. Necessary financial assistance will be given to the affected families.
Ramu Police Inspector (Investigation) Md. Farid said that the police went to the scene and completed the search of the dead mother and daughter. The body was handed over to the family in the afternoon. A case of wrongful death will be filed at the police station in this regard.
