Land official removed after allegedly forging Deputy Speakers official correspondence

The Ministry of Public Administration has removed Shaon Majumder Sumon, an Assistant Commissioner (Land) in Patuakhali’s Rangabali upazila, from his current post following allegations that he forged documents in the name of the Deputy Speaker of the Jatiya Sangsad. A notification issued by the ministry on Monday confirmed that the official has been placed under the jurisdiction of the Public Administration Ministry for reassignment. The order, issued in the public interest under the authority of the President, took effect immediately.
The disciplinary action follows an internal investigation by the Jatiya Sangsad Secretariat, which uncovered a scheme involving the fabrication of the Deputy Speaker’s signature, official letterheads, government logos, and reference numbers. These falsified semi-official (DO) letters were reportedly submitted to various ministries and government departments in an attempt to secure illicit advantages. The Secretariat has formally clarified that the documents did not originate from Parliament and that the institution maintains no connection to the fraudulent activity.

Parliamentary authorities have directed law enforcement to initiate legal proceedings against all individuals involved in the forgery. Furthermore, the Secretariat has issued an advisory to government and private institutions, as well as the media, urging them to rigorously verify the authenticity of any DO letters purportedly issued by the national legislature before taking any action.
