Measles Outbreak Claims 867 Lives Since Mid-March as Infections Reach 152,372

Four more people have died from measles and measles-like symptoms in the 24-hour period ending Saturday morning, bringing the national death toll to 867 since March 15.
According to the latest report released by the Directorate General of Health Services, the most recent fatalities occurred in Dhaka, where two individuals died from confirmed measles and two others succumbed to related symptoms. Since the start of the outbreak on March 15, data indicates that 98 people have died following confirmed measles diagnoses, while 769 deaths have been attributed to measles-like symptoms.
The health authority recorded 776 new cases within the last 24 hours. This includes 99 confirmed cases of measles and 677 instances of individuals presenting with symptoms of the disease.
Cumulative statistics since March 15 show that 152,372 people have been infected in total. Of that figure, 135,332 individuals have exhibited measles-like symptoms, while 17,040 cases have been laboratory-confirmed as measles.
Regarding clinical care, the data shows that 117,444 patients have been admitted to hospitals for measles-related symptoms during this period. As of Saturday, 113,200 patients have been discharged following treatment.
