Streaming platform Bongo has faced public backlash following the unauthorized use of a private photograph of actress Sadia Jahan Prova in a promotional poster for their new drama, “Look a Like.” The production, which also stars Mosharraf Karim, Chitralekha Guho, and Saidur Rahman Pavel, was intended to be marketed through a series of trailers and promotional images before the controversy derailed the launch.
The incident occurred when the platform released a new promotional image that featured a personal selfie taken from Prova’s private Instagram account rather than a scene from the production. The actress, who captured the image herself using a remote trigger, expressed sharp criticism regarding the platform’s lack of professional ethics and respect for her privacy.
In a statement posted to social media, Prova emphasized that the image had no relevance to the drama’s plot or her character. She condemned the decision to use her private property without prior communication or consent, describing the move as deeply unprofessional and unacceptable. She noted that the design team, director, and production crew failed to consult her before disseminating the image to the public.
Following the actress’s firm reaction, Bongo removed the controversial poster from its official platforms. The company subsequently issued a revised promotional graphic that correctly features a scene from the production.
