Celina Jaitly Urges Women to Secure Financial Assets via Prenuptial Agreements Amid Divorce Battle

Actress Celina Jaitly has spoken out about the stark financial and emotional toll of her ongoing divorce proceedings, urging unmarried women to prioritize financial autonomy. In a recent interview, Jaitly revealed that she was compelled to transfer all of her assets to her husband, Austrian entrepreneur Peter Haag, prior to the formal filing of their divorce, leaving her with little personal property.

Reflecting on her experience, Jaitly advised women to establish prenuptial agreements to safeguard their individual assets before marriage. She lamented that even the most deeply held promises and family structures can eventually be reduced to financial disputes, a reality she described as a profound source of distress.

The couple, who married in 2010, share three surviving children: twin sons Winston and Viraaj, born in 2012, and Arthur, born in 2017. They also lost a son, Shamsher, who passed away due to a heart condition. Jaitly previously disclosed that she received divorce papers on the occasion of their 15th wedding anniversary, noting that she was pressured into surrendering assets valued at approximately 200 million rupees during a vulnerable period in their marriage.

The legal battle has since intensified. In November 2024, Jaitly filed a complaint against Haag under the Protection of Women from Domestic Violence Act, alleging consistent abuse and claiming that she has been restricted from accessing their children despite a joint custody arrangement.

The conflict has expanded into the legal sphere, with Jaitly receiving a defamation notice this past May from Haag and his father, Wolfgang J. Haag. The notice, issued by the Mumbai-based law firm Semwal & Co., alleges that Jaitly made disparaging remarks regarding the couple’s ongoing divorce and child custody litigation during public interviews and on social media platforms.
