Senior Bangladeshi diplomat Ferdousi Shahriar passes away at 54

Ferdousi Shahriar, a veteran diplomat and Additional Foreign Secretary who previously served as Bangladesh’s High Commissioner to Singapore, passed away on Wednesday at the age of 54. She died while undergoing treatment at the Bangladesh Specialized Hospital in Dhaka. She is survived by her husband and three children.
A member of the 18th batch of the Bangladesh Civil Service (Foreign Affairs) cadre, Shahriar began her distinguished career in January 1999. Over the course of her two-decade tenure, she represented the country in various capacities across several major missions, including postings in Bangkok, Rome, Manchester, and Washington, D.C.
Her passing has drawn condolences from senior government officials, including the Minister for Foreign Affairs, the State Minister for Foreign Affairs, the Prime Minister’s Advisor on Foreign Affairs, and the Foreign Secretary. In official statements, they expressed their profound grief and extended their sympathies to her bereaved family.
