Two Motorcyclists Killed in Collision with Sand-Laden Truck in Coxs Bazar

Two young men died in a road accident on Wednesday morning when a sand-laden truck collided with their motorcycle on the Cox’s Bazar-Teknaf regional highway. The incident occurred at approximately 9:00 a.m. near the forest office in the Keruntali area of Hwaikyang Union, located in Teknaf Upazila.
The victims have been identified as 30-year-old Md. Rubel, son of the late Sagir Ahmed from West Farirbil in Palangkhali Union of Ukhiya, and 28-year-old Arman Chowdhury, son of Abul Kasem from Gilatoli in Hwaikyang Union.
According to local residents and police reports, the two men were friends traveling by motorcycle from Gilatoli toward Palangkhali Bazar. A truck heading in the opposite direction struck their vehicle, killing Rubel instantly at the scene. Arman succumbed to his injuries while being transported to the Ukhiya Upazila Health Complex.
Nurul Absar, the officer-in-charge of the Hwaikyang Highway Police Station, confirmed the details of the accident. He stated that the truck driver fled the scene immediately following the collision. Authorities later conducted an operation and seized the vehicle. Police confirmed that legal proceedings are underway regarding the deaths.
The seized truck is reportedly owned by Kamal Uddin, a former member of Ward 8 of the Palangkhali Union Parishad. Attempts to reach him by phone for comment were unsuccessful, as his mobile phone remained powered off.
