Four dead and four injured in head-on collision between truck and pickup van in Netrokona

Four people were killed and four others injured in a head-on collision between a pickup truck and a fertilizer-laden truck in Netrokona’s Purbadhala upazila on Thursday.
The accident occurred at approximately 4:45 p.m. in the Narandia area along the Netrokona-Mymensingh regional highway.
According to local police and witnesses, the pickup truck was traveling from Mymensingh toward Netrokona when it collided with the oncoming truck. The impact left the pickup vehicle mangled and caused the truck to lose control, eventually overturning on the side of the road.
Two of the pickup’s occupants, including one woman, died instantly at the scene. Emergency responders and local residents rescued six injured passengers and transported them to Mymensingh Medical College Hospital. Two more individuals succumbed to their injuries while en route to the medical facility. The four surviving victims remain hospitalized in critical condition.
Additional Superintendent of Police for the Netrokona Sadar Circle, Sajal Kumar Sarkar, confirmed the death toll. He noted that authorities have yet to identify the victims.
In addition to the passengers, the pickup truck was carrying household items including utensils and water pitchers, as well as two goats, both of which were killed in the crash. Police are continuing their investigation into the circumstances of the collision.
