Renowned Television Screenwriter Tanin Rahman Dies Following Kidney Surgery Complications

Prominent television screenwriter Tanin Rahman has died following complications from surgery. He was 38. His death, confirmed by industry colleagues on Thursday, August 13, 2026, marks the end of a career spanning more than a decade in the Bangladeshi television industry.

Director Mahmudur Rahman Himi confirmed the news to the media, expressing his condolences via social media. The screenwriter had been battling chronic kidney disease for an extended period. According to filmmaker Ashikur Rahman, the playwright underwent a kidney transplant at the Kidney Foundation Hospital in Mirpur on Wednesday. Although the surgery was initially reported as successful, Rahman suffered a fatal cardiac arrest while under observation in the intensive care unit on Thursday.
