Actress Tanjin Tisha Granted Bail in Dispute Over Unpaid Sari

DHAKA — Popular television actress Tazin Tisha was granted bail by a Dhaka court on Thursday in connection with a case involving allegations of misappropriating a saree. The actress appeared before the court of Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Md. Jewel Rana and submitted her bail petition through her legal counsel. The court subsequently granted her request.

Following the hearing, Tisha expressed strong resentment outside the courtroom, alleging that the plaintiff had abused her husband’s influence to harass her. She asserted that the legal action was motivated by malice rather than a legitimate dispute.

“The person who brought these charges against me is a woman herself,” Tisha told reporters. “She used her husband’s power to target me and has issued several threats, which I possess evidence of and will disclose in due course.”

The actress dismissed the allegations as baseless, questioning the nature of the litigation over a garment valued at 27,000 taka. She emphasized that she has maintained a professional career for 15 years and maintained that appearing in court over such a matter was unwarranted. Tisha expressed her hope for a fair judicial process, stating that she believes in the legal system to provide justice.

The case stems from a complaint filed by an online fashion retail page, Aponia. According to the complaint, Tisha had obtained a saree valued at 28,800 taka under the agreement that she would promote the item on her social media platforms and subsequently pay for it. The plaintiff alleged that the actress failed to promote the product and later ceased all communication regarding the payment.

Based on these claims, a lawsuit for fraud and breach of trust was initiated against the actress. Tisha, who appeared at the magistrate’s court today to secure her release, reiterated that no woman should be subjected to such harassment by another. She concluded by stating that she expects the judiciary to ensure that such tactics are not used to target individuals in the future.
