Dhaka University forms committee to investigate teachers allegedly involved in anti-state activities

Dhaka University authorities have formed a three-member committee to investigate allegations that several faculty members are involved in clandestine anti-state activities. The committee is tasked with reviewing comprehensive information regarding the implicated teachers and providing formal recommendations for administrative action.
The committee is headed by Pro-Vice Chancellor (Education) Professor Abdus Salam. The other members are Professor Md. Mofazzal Hossain, Dean of the Faculty of Science, and Professor Mohammad Ikramul Haque, Dean of the Faculty of Law. Officials confirmed that the committee has already commenced its operations.
The university’s public relations department announced the formation of the probe body in a press release on Thursday. The decision followed media reports alleging that 404 teachers across 22 public universities in Bangladesh are engaged in covert activities aimed at repatriating fugitive convict Sheikh Hasina and revitalizing a banned political organization.
According to the reports cited by the university, 92 faculty members from Dhaka University are allegedly involved in these activities. The university stated that it has already identified 58 of these individuals.
Authorities confirmed that the committee will scrutinize the conduct of the identified teachers and propose necessary disciplinary measures. The university further noted that if additional faculty members are identified in the future, their involvement will be subjected to the same investigative process. As part of its mandate, the committee will evaluate the nature of the evidence gathered and determine the appropriate institutional response required to address the situation.
