Two killed in electrocution accident in Rajshahi Charghat

Two people from the same household died of electrocution in Anupampur Colony Para village, located in the Charghat Upazila of Rajshahi, on Friday afternoon. The incident occurred at approximately 1:00 p.m., casting a pall of mourning over the community.
The victims have been identified as 60-year-old Shamsher Ali and his daughter-in-law, 25-year-old Tania Begum.
Charghat Model Police Station Officer-in-Charge Mahbubur Rahman confirmed the details of the tragedy. According to reports, Tania Begum was attempting to hang a wet towel on a clothesline strung across the courtyard while entertaining visiting relatives. The wire had been accidentally energized, a danger of which she was unaware. Upon making contact with the wire, she was immediately electrocuted.
Shamsher Ali, who was nearby on the porch preparing fodder for livestock, rushed to assist his daughter-in-law and was subsequently electrocuted himself while attempting to pull her to safety. Local residents rushed both individuals to the Charghat Upazila Health Complex, where attending physicians declared them dead upon arrival.
Local Union Parishad member Takdirul Islam stated that the community is deeply shocked by the sudden loss. The families of the deceased have requested permission from the police to bury the bodies without conducting autopsies.
Officer-in-Charge Mahbubur Rahman noted that the bodies have been returned to the family residence. He described the event as a heartbreaking tragedy, noting that there are no formal complaints regarding the incident. Authorities confirmed that legal procedures are being followed to grant the request for burial without an autopsy, as the deaths are being treated as a tragic accident.
