PSG on the verge of a rare record

Reigning champions PSG have once again proven their dominance in club football’s most prestigious competition, the Champions League. The reigning champions advanced to the semi-finals after beating six-time champions Liverpool.

PSG won the match 2-0 at Anfield, taking a 4-0 aggregate lead to reach the last four. Now they are very close to retaining the title as the second team behind one of the most successful clubs in European history, Real Madrid.

The team’s coach, Luis Enrique, said that it is not easy to retain the Champions League title, but they have the opportunity again and want to make the most of it.

PSG will face Bayern Munich or Real Madrid in the semi-finals. PSG are unbeaten in 9 consecutive matches in the knockout stages. In addition, they became the first French club to reach the semi-finals of the Champions League in three consecutive seasons.

Winning back-to-back Champions League titles is a rare feat. After the competition was renamed in 1992, only Real Madrid won the title three times in a row from 2016 to 2018.

After winning the title for the first time last season, PSG is moving forward with the goal of making that history. Coach Enrique said his team is focused on their own game rather than their opponents and their confidence is driving them forward.

Dembele said after the match, the match was difficult, especially in the second half. However, the team found a way to win and are very happy to reach the semi-finals.
