A 25-year-old college student in Chattogram has tragically died after being struck by a bus, mirroring the exact fate his father suffered in a fatal road accident two decades ago.
year BBA student at Hazera Taju University College and an accounting staff member at a local aluminium factory in Chattogram, succumbed to his injuries on Friday night while undergoing treatment at a city hospital. Family members confirmed that Kayser was riding a motorcycle toward his workplace on Thursday morning when an AB Travels passenger bus hit him in the Nazumiyahat Bazar area along the Chattogram-Kaptai road in Hathazari Upazila. Following the collision, police seized the offending bus heading toward Kaptai, according to Md Saiful Islam, assistant sub-inspector of the Madunaghat Police Investigation Centre under Hathazari.
The tragedy marks an agonizing repetition of history for the victim's grieving family, particularly his mother, Rozi Akter. Two decades ago, in 2004, Kayser's father, Firoz Ahmed, an expatriate worker in the United Arab Emirates, was killed in a bus accident in Mecca, Saudi Arabia, while performing the holy Hajj pilgrimage with his parents. Firoz's body could not be repatriated and was buried abroad, leaving behind three-year-old Kayser and an infant brother.
Following his funeral prayers held in his native village on Saturday afternoon, Kayser was laid to rest in the family graveyard. Relatives shared that Rozi Akter had endured immense hardship to educate her son despite financial struggles, only to witness him perish in the same manner as her husband twenty years prior. Kayser's uncle, Mozammel Haq, who rushed back from the United Arab Emirates upon hearing of the accident, expressed profound shock over the devastating loss that has shattered the family once again.
