Woman dies after coconut tree collapses in Khagrachhari

A 50-year-old woman was killed in Matiranga, Khagrachhari, on Saturday evening after being struck by a falling coconut tree in her home garden. The victim, identified as Swapna Saha, was the wife of local businessman Noni Saha.
The incident occurred at approximately 6:15 p.m. in the Bolitila area of Matiranga municipality’s Ward 7. According to family members, Saha had stepped into her courtyard to tend to drying food items when the dried coconut tree suddenly collapsed, pinning her underneath.
Family members rushed Saha to the Matiranga Upazila Health Complex, where medical personnel declared her dead upon arrival. Dr. Milton Tripura, the resident medical officer at the facility, confirmed that the victim had succumbed to her injuries before reaching the hospital.
Matiranga Police Station officer-in-charge Mohammad Shahed Uddin acknowledged the report of the fatal accident, noting that no formal complaints had been filed regarding the incident.
