BGB Blocks Attempted Push-in of 20 Individuals Along Chapainawabganj Border

Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) has successfully prevented an attempt by the Indian Border Security Force (BSF) to push 20 individuals into Bangladeshi territory through the Chouka border in the Shibganj upazila of Chapainawabganj.
The incident occurred late Friday night when BSF personnel attempted to move the group—comprising 11 women, five men, and four children—across the border. Upon detecting the movement, BGB patrol teams immediately intervened and blocked the attempt, effectively preventing the group’s entry into Bangladesh.
Lieutenant Colonel Mohammad Tajul Islam Chowdhury, commander of the BGB’s 59th Battalion, confirmed the event on Saturday morning. According to BGB reports, the group remains situated on the Indian side of the zero line following the border agency’s intervention.
Commanding officers are currently on-site to monitor the situation, and BGB officials have stated that further details will be provided as the situation develops.
