Police arrest suspected human trafficker in Dhaka operation

The Counter Terrorism and Transnational Crime (CTTC) unit of the Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) has arrested a man in the capital’s Agargaon area on allegations of operating as a key member of a human trafficking ring targeting Cambodia.
DMP officials confirmed the arrest of Md. Shahadat Hossain on Wednesday evening following a targeted operation. According to police, the suspect had been identified as an accused in a case filed under the Prevention and Suppression of Human Trafficking Act at the Airport Police Station.
Preliminary investigations by the CTTC suggest that the suspect played a significant role in an organized syndicate responsible for facilitating illegal migration and human trafficking to Cambodia.
Authorities have stated that legal proceedings against the suspect are currently underway.
