The Bangladeshi government has appointed Joint Secretary Mohammad Kamruzzaman as the new director general of the July Mass Uprising Memorial Museum. A notification issued by the Ministry of Public Administration on Wednesday confirmed the transfer of Kamruzzaman, who previously served as an officer on special duty within the ministry, to the museum under the Ministry of Cultural Affairs.

He succeeds Tanjim Wahab, the director general of the National Museum, who had been overseeing the operations of the July Mass Uprising Memorial Museum on an additional charge basis.

The government established the museum to preserve the memory of the July 2024 mass uprising, ensuring that the history and significance of the movement are documented and effectively conveyed to future generations. Officials close to the development anticipate that Kamruzzaman’s leadership will accelerate the museum’s ongoing projects and strengthen its role as a national center for historical preservation.
