Newlywed man dies in Noakhali motorcycle crash four days after wedding

A newlywed man in Bangladesh’s Noakhali district died in a motorcycle accident late Friday, just four days after his wedding. Saimun Islam, 25, succumbed to his injuries while being transported to Dhaka for emergency medical care.

The incident occurred at approximately 9:30 p.m. on the Char Elahi-Gangchil road in the Companiganj sub-district. According to local witnesses, Islam and his friend, Rifat, were traveling on a motorcycle near a local farm when the vehicle lost control and collided violently with a roadside tree.

The victim, the son of expatriates living in Saudi Arabia, had married his cousin earlier that week. Following the collision, both men were initially rescued by local residents; however, Islam’s condition deteriorated rapidly. He died around 3:00 a.m. on Saturday while en route to a hospital in the capital.

Rifat remains hospitalized at a private facility in the district town, where he is currently receiving treatment for his injuries. Islam was laid to rest at a family graveyard in Char Elahi union on Saturday morning.

Companiganj Police Station officer-in-charge Md. Nurul Hakim confirmed that the victim’s family had not formally reported the accident to local authorities.
