DESCO in action against those who disobey government directives to save electricity

In view of the existing global energy crisis, Dhaka Electric Supply Company Limited (DESCO) is monitoring all types of commercial establishments including shopping malls, markets, and commercial establishments under their jurisdiction to implement government directives.

This information was informed in the press release of the government service provider today on Saturday.

Desco Special Metropolitan Magistrate (Joint District Judge) Md. Hadiuzzaman was quoted as saying in the notification, “Warning is being done first and if any commercial establishment is found open after seven o’clock except for emergency service centers, immediate closure is being arranged.” If anyone still disobeys the law, legal action will be taken against him.’

In the notification, it was informed about the operation of the market, shopping mall and shops in the Mirpur area of ​​the capital under the jurisdiction of DESCO at seven o’clock last Thursday. Apart from this, on Wednesday, in the operation conducted under the leadership of DESCO Executive Magistrate Mohammad Juber Alam, the information was reported that some companies including Spark Gear, Best Buy were fined 10,000 taka for violating the law.

Apart from this, a fine was collected from an eatery in Gulshan and some unnecessary display lights were seized for excessive lighting. Besides, distribution of leaflets, miking work to make the general public including businessmen aware is also mentioned in the notification.
