“It’s unbelievable, I got 1000 taka of oil after standing for 15 minutes”

The long lines for fuel at filling stations during the holiday are much shorter this Friday. The line length has reduced compared to last few days.
At around 10:30 in the morning, I spoke to Mohammad Ali, the driver of the motorcycle ride share, at the Ramna filling station at Matsya Bhavan intersection in the capital. After taking the oil, he told Prothom Alo, ‘last Saturday I stood for 10 hours and got oil worth 500 taka. But today I stood for 15 minutes and got 1000 rupees worth of oil. It seems incredible to me, I never imagined that the line would go down so much.

Seeing the line of motorcycles and private cars, drivers say it is unbelievable. They did not imagine that this line of oil could decrease so quickly.
Today, visiting the filling stations at Shahbagh and Matsya Bhavan junctions in the capital, such a picture can be seen. In response to the question why do you think the line has suddenly reduced so much, the driver Mohammad Ali said, “There has been a drama to increase the price, I think it is possible.” Why did the line suddenly decrease after the price increase? The government could have fixed everything in advance if it wanted.

Private car driver Omayer Rahman said that he got oil within 20 minutes at this filling station. He said, other days it took hours after hours to get oil. He did not think that he can take oil in such a short time today. This driver said that the oil line has decreased due to the increase in price.
Last Friday, 422 motorcycles and 358 private cars were seen waiting for fuel at this Ramna filling station at the same time as today. At 10:45 am today, 72 motorcycles and 25 private cars were seen waiting for oil.
The oil line was also seen short at the Meghna model filling station in Paribaug. Last Friday, 518 motorcycles and 493 private cars were seen waiting for oil at this filling station around 11:30 pm. Around 11 am today, only 112 motorcycles and 42 private cars were seen waiting for oil.
Motorcyclist Sabbir Milan is seen waiting for oil at this filling station. He said that he waited for more than 6 hours for oil last Friday. Today stood in line for 10 minutes. But still did not get oil. There are 60 to 70 motorcycles in front of him. Hope to get the oil within an hour.
This motorcyclist mentioned that the line has decreased due to not giving fuel to the motorcycle without a fuel pass and the increase in the price of oil. He said, ‘The line has reduced a lot as a result of not giving oil without a fuel pass. Apart from this, due to the increase in price, many people do not come to buy it as before. As a result, this crowd has reduced. I hope it will decrease further.
Manik Mia, the driver of a private car, said, “I stood in the queue today around 9:30 am. I got the oil within an hour and a half. Earlier I got 1 thousand 500 Tk oil but today I got 2000 Tk oil. If the government had given importance to these issues in advance, we would not have suffered so much.
Hasibul Azam, a motorcyclist, thinks that if the government increases the supply, the line for oil will decrease further. He said that due to not taking proper measures for so long, there has been suffering. If the government took proper measures, everyone would not have to suffer like this.
Amid the global energy crisis, the price of fuel oil has reached the highest level in the country’s history. The price of diesel per liter has increased to Tk 115, kerosene Tk 130, octane Tk 140 and petrol Tk 135. This new price has been effective since last Sunday. Bus fares in Dhaka and Chittagong cities and sub-districts have been increased by 11 paise per kilometer following the increase in fuel prices.
