In Raipura Upazila of Narsingdi, a teacher has been accused of flogging a class 10 student and sending her to the hospital for getting low marks in the maths test. The student was admitted to a private hospital in the capital on Thursday morning. According to the family, the student has lost the ability to speak since this morning.
The name of the injured student is Saima Akhtar (15). She is the daughter of Azizul Haque of Nabiabad village in Alipura union of the upazila. Name of the accused teacher. Faiz Uddin He is a mathematics teacher at Al Hera Academy, a private educational institution in the upazila. The school authorities suspended him in this incident.

The family members of the injured student said that after the results of the first phase of the exam were published last Tuesday, it was seen that Saima got low marks in mathematics. The next day when he went to school, maths teacher Faiz Uddin gave Saima 12 whips in a row to discipline him. He became physically and mentally ill on his way home.
When the family members came to know about it, they informed the school authorities verbally. In this incident, the student’s body developed a fever and also broke down mentally. Later he was first taken to Upazila Health Complex. The doctor on duty quickly transferred him to Dhaka Medical College Hospital. Later he was taken to Dhaka by ambulance and admitted to a private hospital.

Regarding the complaint, teacher Faiz Uddin said, “He got low marks in the maths test, so I disciplined him.” But I did not flog him. After hearing the news of his illness, I went home and inquired. I am going to Dhaka to inquire about his treatment. Saima was already physically weak.
Panir Hossain, head teacher of the institution, said that there is no opportunity to raise hands or whip any student in the class. The teacher has been temporarily suspended from the school in this incident.
Raipura upazila executive officer. Masud Rana said that the teacher has been ordered to be dismissed from the school. Besides, the school authority will bear all the medical expenses of the sick student. The officer-in-charge (OC) of the police station has been asked to provide all legal protection to the student.
Raipura Police Station OC Mojibur Rahman said that the police are investigating by going to the school, hospital and the house of the victim student. His family has not yet filed a written complaint in this incident. Legal action will be taken if complaints are received.
