A reckless truck ran over an eight-year-old son in front of his mother’s eyes

An eight-year-old child was standing on the side of the road holding his mother’s hand and waiting for the car. Yamin. In the meantime, the hand suddenly runs away. And at that moment, a reckless speeding truck drove Yamin under the wheels and crushed him in front of his mother’s eyes. The truck dragged Yamin far along the middle of the paved road. That part of the road was soaked in red blood. Yamin’s mother Bakul Begum lost consciousness after seeing this accident in front of her eyes.
The accident took place on the Sonapur-Chairmanghat road in Charjabbar Union of Subarnachar Upazila of Noakhali at around 2.30 am on Sunday. On receiving the information, Charjabbar police went to the spot and recovered the body of the dead child and took it to the police station.
Talking to the police and local people, it is said that the deceased Yamin is the son of Shahadat Hossain of Char Bayezid village of Char Clerk Union of the same upazila. Bakul Begum is unable to be normal seeing the death of her son in front of her eyes. He sat speechless in the police station with his little son in his lap.
Bakul Begum said in a tearful voice at the Charjabbar police station that their house has been destroyed by the Meghna. So, desperate, he came to a relative’s house in the clear market area to see a piece of land for building a new house. When he arrived, he brought Yamin and his brother with him. After seeing the land at noon, Char with his boys was standing by the road waiting for the car to go back to Biojid. At that time a speeding truck (drum truck) crushed his son. In the blink of an eye, the boy’s head is crushed.
When asked, Charjabbar Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Mohammad Lutfar Rahman confirmed the accident. He told Prothom Alo that after receiving the information, the police recovered the body from the spot and brought it to the police station. After the accident, the driver left the truck at a petrol pump on the same road and fled. Later the police seized it. In light of the complaint of the family of the child killed in this incident, further legal action will be taken.
