A farmer’s bloody body with his legs tied was recovered from an irrigation ditch in Rangpur

Police recovered the bloodied body of a farmer from an irrigation house in Bara Alampur Union of Rangpur’s Pirganj Upazila. The incident was reported on Thursday morning.
The family and local people said that the deceased Mofizar Rahman was in charge of guarding the irrigation transmitter of their BADC at night.

According to family and local sources, Mofizar Rahman went to guard the irrigation house in Umarpur field of Bara Alampur union of the upazila on Wednesday as usual. This morning, a farmer named Shahidul Islam of that area, while going to the field with a cow, found the door of the irrigation house open and the transmitter open. Later, he went inside and saw the bloody body of Mofizar with his legs tied. People around him rushed to his scream.
According to the local people, miscreants killed Mofizar Rahman when they came to steal the irrigation transmitter late at night. They escape with the transmitter. On receiving the information, the police of Pirganj police station reached the spot and recovered the body. Police have started an investigation.
