Singer Asif Akbar Urges Government to Relocate Rare Albino Buffalo from National Zoo to Farm

Popular Bangladeshi singer Asif Akbar has issued a heartfelt public appeal for the humane treatment of a rare albino buffalo, which has garnered significant attention online due to its unique physical appearance. The animal, colloquially dubbed “Donald Trump” by the public because of its distinct white coat and peculiar tuft of hair, is currently being held at the National Zoo in Dhaka.
In a statement shared via Facebook, Akbar expressed his emotional distress over the buffalo’s situation, urging the government to prioritize the animal’s welfare. Contemplating the buffalo’s plight amidst the country’s broader social challenges, the singer emphasized that the animal remains oblivious to the circumstances that led to its current confinement. He maintained that the buffalo, which was raised in a nurturing farm environment, deserves a more suitable habitat than a zoo enclosure.
Akbar formally requested that authorities facilitate the buffalo’s return to its original farm, characterizing the move as an act of compassion for a creature that has captivated the public’s imagination. He argued that respecting these small displays of public empathy is essential for maintaining a humane society.
National Zoo officials confirmed that the buffalo is currently housed in the facility’s seventh shed. According to the administration, the animal was relocated from Keraniganj to the zoo to ensure its preservation as a rare species and to mitigate potential disorder caused by excessive crowds gathering to view it.
The zoo authorities stated that the buffalo initially underwent a mandatory quarantine period upon its arrival. It has since been provided with specialized medical care, consistent nutrition, and daily monitoring. Officials maintain that the animal is in good health and remains under close observation as they manage its integration into the zoo environment.
