The businessman died after being hacked in a dispute over land

A man who was hacked due to a dispute over land in Chittagong’s Patiya has died while undergoing treatment. He died at Chittagong Medical College Hospital at six o’clock in the morning on Monday.
The name of the deceased is Abul Kashem (55). He is a businessman by profession. His house is in South Gobindarkhil area of Ward No. 8 of Patia Municipality. He was cut and injured last Wednesday. He was then admitted to Chittagong Medical College Hospital for treatment.
According to the police and the victim’s family sources, there was a dispute with Abul Kashem over the land of one of his neighbors. When the opposition tried to build a road over the land, Abul Kashem was stopped. This led to a quarrel between the two family members. At one stage, Abul Kashem, his brother Abul Kalam (50) and Abu Musa (47) were cut and injured with sharp weapons. Local residents rescued them and took them to the hospital. Abul Kashem died there. Among the injured, Abul Kalam’s condition is critical.
Abul Kashem’s brother Abul Mansoor told Prothom Alo that Abul Kashem was injured on the head with a sharp knife. A neighbor named Iqbal Hossain attacked Abul Kashem with some others.
Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Patia police station Ziaul Haque said that a case has been registered in the police station on Sunday regarding the stabbing of Abul Kashem. A neighbor named Iqbal Hossain named three persons named as accused in that case. That case will be converted into a murder case. The operation to nab the accused is continuing.
