Legendary musician Asha Bhosle passed away

He breathed his last under treatment at Breach Candy Hospital in Mumbai on Sunday (April 12). Doctors said that he suffered a cardiac arrest on Saturday. 

Prateet Samdani, a doctor at the hospital, said that the 92-year-old artist was rushed to the hospital when he developed heart problems. Since then he has been treated in the emergency department.

Meanwhile, his granddaughter said on social media that he had to be admitted to the hospital due to excessive fatigue and chest infection. He asked the family for privacy and hoped that news of his recovery would be available soon.

Asha Bhosle is a unique name in Indian music world. For more than eight decades, he has enthralled audiences by singing in numerous languages. From classical, folk, ghazals to modern—his equal mastery across genres has placed him in a special position.

He has received numerous awards including India’s highest film honor ‘Dadasaheb Phalke Award’ and ‘Padma Vibhushan’ for his outstanding contribution to music. Apart from this, he has won several National Film Awards and Filmfare Awards, making him one of the greatest artists in the history of Indian playback music.
