**Two Arrested for Sabotaging Bengaluru Stadium Security During IPL Match**
BENGALURU – Bengaluru police have arrested two individuals accused of deliberately damaging critical security infrastructure at the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium, the home ground of the Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB), during a high-profile Indian Premier League (IPL) match on April 24. The incident rendered over 240 CCTV cameras inoperable, creating a significant security breach.
The alleged sabotage occurred during the IPL encounter between Royal Challengers Bengaluru and Gujarat Titans. Authorities reported that a formal complaint was lodged by an employee of StackU Technologies, an AI surveillance firm based in Gurugram. The complaint detailed how the arrested individuals allegedly entered the stadium’s control room without authorization and tampered with the network video recorder (NVR) system and fiber optic connections. CCTV footage reportedly shows the suspects in sensitive areas of the stadium.
Investigators believe the motive behind the act stemmed from grievances related to unpaid wages, with a sum of approximately 1 million Indian rupees reportedly owed to the individuals. They have been charged with willful destruction of property, and an investigation into the full extent of the incident is ongoing.
Following the security lapse, all remaining RCB home matches scheduled at the Chinnaswamy Stadium have been relocated. Two of these matches are now set to take place in Raipur.
