Actress Mandana Exits India After Celebrating Khameneis Death

Iranian-born Bollywood actress and model Mandana Karimi has announced her departure from India after living in the country for 16 years, citing profound safety concerns and a perceived lack of support for her activism. She conveyed her emotional farewell to fans and well-wishers through a video message posted on Instagram.
The announcement surfaced during an Instagram “Ask Me Anything” session, where a follower inquired if she was permanently leaving Mumbai. Responding from an airport, Karimi posted a video stating, “I never thought or believed I’d have to say this — but goodbye, India. It’s incredibly difficult to leave my second home after nearly 16 years. But now, it’s the start of something new. A new country, a new home, everything new.”
Her decision to permanently relocate from India is primarily driven by a deep sense of insecurity. Earlier this year, in an interview with NDTV, Karimi indicated that she no longer felt safe in the country, explicitly outlining security concerns as the principal reason for her planned exit.
The actress has been a consistent and vocal advocate for Iranian women’s rights, openly criticizing the prevailing situation in her home country. She alleged that her persistent activism has led to her being repeatedly targeted.
Karimi also voiced disappointment over what she perceived as a lack of support from friends, the government, and the media during a challenging period. “This is why it no longer feels like home here,” she remarked. She emphasized her commitment to her cause, adding, “Everything I’ve done, I’ve done for Iran and my people. Even without support, I would do it again.”
Unable to return to Iran due to her outspoken criticism of the current regime, Karimi stated her intention to embark on a new life in a different country. For security reasons, she has chosen to keep the name of her new destination confidential.
Karimi, who left Iran at the age of 18 to come to India, previously garnered significant media attention for expressing joy over the death of Iran’s Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei. She has been barred from entering her native Iran for nearly a decade.
Her recent film credits include the Netflix production ‘Thar’. Karimi also achieved considerable popularity through her appearances on reality television shows such as ‘Bigg Boss 9’ and ‘Lock Upp’.
