The health minister hopes that 81 percent of the target children will be covered by measles vaccination, within two to four days

Health Minister Sardar Md. Sakhawat Hossain said, 81 percent of the target (children) have been covered under measles vaccination. He also expressed hope that it will be possible to bring 100% under vaccination within two-four days.

On the first day of the Deputy Commissioner (DC) conference at the capital’s Osmani Smriti Auditorium, the health minister said this in response to questions from reporters after a health ministry-related discussion on Sunday. At that time, State Minister for Health MA Muhith and Special Assistant to Prime Minister Tariq Rahman on Health Affairs SM Ziauddin Haider were present.

Referring to the sufficient stock of vaccine, the health minister said, “The situation is improving…but it takes some time to develop antibodies.”

The Health Minister said that the DCs have been instructed to keep an eye on the vaccination program.

Regarding the proposal given by the DCs, the health minister said that the buildings were constructed unplanned during the previous government, they are left unprotected. The DCs have asked for these to be launched. Apart from this, besides the problem of not having proper doctors, the DCs have discussed a lot for the development of the health sector, including keeping alternative systems in hospitals during power outages, taking appropriate measures to prevent dengue, increasing the supply to meet the shortage of ambulances, the minister said.

When asked about the directives of the DCs, the health minister said that they have been instructed to conduct mobile courts in unplanned and illegally run clinics, to check whether adulterated drugs are sold in dispensaries.

Health Minister said that 10 Ansar along with platoon commander will be deployed in upazila health complex and hospital for security.
