After investigating the complaint, the police found the suspect. The police also found out that the young man had cheated at least 10 people with the same trick in the last one and a half months.

Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) Wari Division Deputy Commissioner (DC) Mallik Ahsan Uddin Sami gave this information in a press conference at DMP Media Center on Minto Road in the capital today. On April 13, Rashidul Islam Rabbi (30) was arrested from Jatrabari police station.

Police officer Mallik Ahsan Uddin Sami said, “On the basis of a complaint at Jatrabari police station, we first arrested an accused. The first allegation was that a young woman was being blackmailed with pornography. But after his arrest, new information started to emerge one after another. So far we have received a total of 10 complaints, and the accused himself has confessed to 13 incidents.’

Mallick Ahsan Uddin Sami said that the type of fraud was the same in all cases, said that the young man used to blackmail the victims, sometimes raped them and sometimes created pressure to collect money by recording videos of private moments. Most of the victims who have been found are from Mirpur area of ​​Dhaka.

After the General Diary (GD) on March 4 till April 9, 10 complaints were received against the rabbi in the last one and a half months.

Police officer Mallik Ahsan Uddin said, “The rabbi used to target a woman first. After the introduction, he initially took the woman’s mobile phone and took control of her social media accounts. The account was then used to initiate contact with other girls on the woman’s friend list. He would gradually build closeness and call them out on various pretexts.

Mallik Ahsan Uddin informed that the victims were taken to two houses in the Dania College-adjacent area of ​​Jatrabari police station and said, “They were taken to one house during the day and another house at night.” He was arrested from there.

The police learned that gold ornaments, earrings, mobile phones, cash, money from the bank were taken from the women by blackmailing them.

Police officer Wasi Uddin said that many of the victims only made GDs. We have been able to identify the victims on that basis.

Three cases have been filed against the rabbi so far, with another three-four under investigation by the GD. The police recovered five mobile phones from the rabbi.

Rashedul Islam Rabbi lived at his father-in-law’s house in Siddhirganj, Narayanganj. The police said that he did not do any work, he used to earn through crime.

Mallik Wasi Uddin said, “The rabbi married whomever he married, he also married her with the same trick.” Even the in-laws have been caught doing the same thing once.

Police are continuing to investigate the rabbi. Mallik Ahsan Uddin requested to inform the police if there are any more allegations against him.
