Jagannath University bus attacked by locals in Manikganj leaving ten injured

At least 10 people were injured, including students and a driver, following an attack on a Jagannath University bus in the Singair Upazila of Manikganj on Tuesday afternoon.
The incident occurred at the Bondokkhin Bazar area while the bus, known as Kaliganga, was en route to Manikganj. Mahid Hossain, the transport editor of the Jagannath University Central Students’ Union (JOCSU), confirmed the attack, stating that multiple passengers sustained injuries, including one student who suffered a head laceration.
Tarek Bin Atik, the university’s transport administrator, provided details regarding the events preceding the assault. According to preliminary reports, an altercation occurred between the bus driver and a local auto-rickshaw driver. The situation escalated after university students reportedly confronted the auto-rickshaw driver on the road. Following the initial dispute, a group of local residents launched an attack on the university vehicle.
Administrator Tarek Bin Atik confirmed that of the 10 injured individuals, two sustained severe injuries. He stated that he is currently en route to the site to assess the situation and provide further assistance. Authorities are expected to investigate the circumstances surrounding the conflict and the subsequent violence against the university transport.
