Mother and son die in electrocution accident in Noakhali

A mother and her eight-year-old son were killed by electrocution on Friday in Chatkhil, Noakhali, after an attempt to save the child from a faulty water pump went tragically wrong. The incident occurred around 1:00 p.m. in Chayani Tobga village, located within the municipality’s 9th ward.

According to local authorities, the family was operating an electric motor to pump water from a nearby pond. The disaster unfolded when young Rahul Chandra Ghosh accidentally touched the live electrical wiring connected to the pump. Witnesses and police report that his mother, 35-year-old Anjana Rani Ghosh, immediately rushed to her son’s aid in an attempt to pull him away from the source of the current.

In the ensuing rescue attempt, Anjana Rani Ghosh also became caught in the electrical circuit. Both the mother and son suffered fatal shocks and died at the scene before medical assistance could be provided.

Chatkhil Police Station Officer-in-Charge Abdul Monnaf confirmed that officers were dispatched to the residence to secure the area and conduct an initial investigation. Law enforcement officials have stated that they are processing the incident and will take the necessary legal steps in accordance with standard procedure.
