Two suspects arrested for quadruple murder of former Rangpur school teacher and family

RANGPUR — Police have arrested two suspects in connection with the brutal murder of four members of a single family in the Masuapara area of Kamalkachna, located in Rangpur city.

The suspects, identified as 19-year-old Siddhartha Das and 23-year-old Mugdho Das, allegedly orchestrated the killings after being confronted over their consumption of Yaba, a methamphetamine-based stimulant. The victims included Ganapati Chakraborty, a retired teacher from Rangpur Zilla School, his wife, and their two children.

According to Rangpur Metropolitan Police Commissioner Mohammad Abdul Mabud, the perpetrators committed the murders to prevent their identities from being exposed after they were caught using drugs by the victims. Following the killings, the suspects attempted to stage a robbery to mislead the investigation.

Law enforcement officials confirmed that the murders were a premeditated act carried out to eliminate witnesses. The investigation into the incident remains ongoing as authorities process the evidence collected from the crime scene.
