Motorcyclist killed in private car collision in Dhaka

A 32-year-old man was killed on Friday morning after his motorcycle was struck by a private car on the 100-foot road in the Bhatara area of Dhaka.

The victim, Sajjad Hossain, was a resident of Madhya Para in Mohakhali. He worked at a clothing store within the Jamuna Future Park shopping complex located on Pragati Sarani near Kuril Bishwa Road.

According to his cousin, Anisur Rahman, the collision occurred at approximately 10:00 a.m. while Sajjad was traveling. The private car reportedly struck his motorcycle from behind, causing him to be thrown onto the road and sustain critical injuries.

Bystanders initially transported the victim to United Hospital in Gulshan. Following this, family members relocated him to the National Institute of Traumatology and Orthopaedic Rehabilitation. As his condition deteriorated, he was transferred to the emergency department of Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH) for advanced medical care.

Doctors at the DMCH emergency department declared Sajjad dead at approximately 3:00 p.m. Police Inspector Md. Faruk, stationed at the DMCH hospital police camp, confirmed the fatality and stated that the Bhatara Police Station has been informed of the incident.

Sajjad was the only son among four siblings. His father, Shahjahan Gazi, is a retired member of the Bangladesh Air Force. Family members noted that Sajjad had been married only seven or eight months prior to the accident, and his wife had not yet moved into the family home.
