Officials stated that the victim and the suspects shared a friendship that turned sour over a dispute regarding a mobile phone. On Sunday night, Parvez and his associates allegedly beat Jihad and stole his phone. The following Monday, the suspects reportedly abandoned the severely injured victim in front of his residence.

Jihad was initially rushed to Dhaka Medical College Hospital for treatment. As his condition deteriorated, he was transferred to a private hospital in Uttara on Wednesday night, where he succumbed to his injuries on Thursday morning.

Following his death, police conducted an inquest and an autopsy before releasing the body to the family. Investigations into the case remain ongoing.
